Terms of Service

Last updated: 14 July 2026

These terms govern your use of Cook Aloud (the "Service"), operated by [YOUR LEGAL NAME / BUSINESS NAME], based in South Africa. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms.

1. What the Service does

Cook Aloud lets you import recipes (from a photo, a link, or a file), converts them into step-by-step cooking instructions using automated AI processing, reads those steps aloud, and generates shopping lists. The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial cooking use.

2. Your account

You sign in with your email address using a one-time link. You are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure. You must be at least 16 years old, or have permission from a parent or guardian, to use the Service.

3. Your content

You keep ownership of the recipes and content you import. You grant us permission to store and process that content solely to provide the Service to you (including sending it to our AI providers to extract steps and generate narration — see our Privacy Policy).

You must only import content you have the right to use. Do not use the Service to infringe anyone's copyright.

4. Plans, billing and cancellation

The Service offers a free plan with limited monthly recipe imports, and a paid Premium plan billed monthly. Prices are shown on our pricing section and may change with reasonable notice.

Payments are processed by our authorised reseller and Merchant of Record, who handles the transaction and applicable taxes. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; your Premium access continues until the end of the paid period. See our Refund Policy.

5. Fair use and limits

Each plan includes a monthly limit on recipe imports. We may suspend or limit accounts that abuse the Service, attempt to circumvent limits, or use it in a way that harms the Service or other users.

6. Accuracy — important

Recipe steps, ingredient amounts and timings are produced by automated AI processing and may contain errors or omissions. Always use your own judgement when cooking, especially regarding food safety, cooking temperatures, allergens and raw ingredients. The Service is an assistant, not a substitute for your own care and common sense. We are not responsible for any illness, injury, or spoiled food resulting from reliance on the Service.

7. Availability

We aim to keep the Service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may change, suspend or discontinue features at any time.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If changes are material, we will notify you by email or in the app. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, and disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
