Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data Cook Aloud collects, why, and who it is shared with. Cook Aloud is operated by [YOUR LEGAL NAME / BUSINESS NAME], based in South Africa.
What we collect
- Your email address — used to sign you in (we use one-time email links; we never ask for or store a password).
- Recipes you import — the photo, link, or file you provide, and the recipe steps, ingredients and narration audio generated from it.
- Usage counts — how many recipes you have imported this month, so we can apply your plan's limit.
- Subscription status — whether you are on the free or paid plan.
We do not collect your card details. Payments are handled entirely by our payment provider (see below) — we never see or store your card information.
How your recipe content is processed
This is the important part, so we want to be clear: to turn your recipe into steps and read it aloud, we send your recipe content to third-party AI providers:
- Anthropic (Claude) — receives the photo, page text, or file you import, in order to extract the recipe's ingredients and steps.
- OpenAI — receives the text of each recipe step, in order to generate the spoken narration audio (paid plans only).
These providers process the content to return a result to us. We do not send them your email address or account details.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your recipes and account data for as long as your account exists. If you delete a recipe, it and its narration audio are removed. If you delete your account, your data is deleted.
Your rights
You can access, export or delete your recipes at any time from within the app. To delete your account entirely, or to request a copy of your data, email us and we will action it.
Security
Your data is stored with access controls so that only your account can read your recipes. Sign-in uses one-time email links rather than passwords. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
The Service is not intended for children under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy materially, we will notify you by email or in the app.
